Explore the work in detail

Natural stone varies in color and pattern, and no surface is maintenance-free. Heat, knives, abrasives, oils and acidic products should be treated according to the stone supplier’s care guidance. Seams, support and sealing are reviewed for the specific slab and application.

New England homes vary by age, construction, coastal exposure, freeze-thaw cycles and previous repairs. We review visible conditions, access and product instructions before recommending a scope. Concealed conditions or work beyond the quote are documented before extra work proceeds.

Before the visit, make a short list of the symptoms, when they occur and any previous repairs. Note whether water, drafts or equipment problems change with rain, wind or temperature. Photos can help identify the affected area, but they cannot show every concealed condition; measurements and product selection are verified at the home.

During estimating, we discuss access, work-area protection, disposal, sequencing and any items that need a licensed trade or a separate specialist. The written scope should state what is included, which materials are selected, what may change if concealed damage is found and who approves additional work. This keeps the project understandable before tools or materials arrive.

After installation, ask for care and maintenance instructions, product paperwork and the written workmanship terms. Keep a copy with your home records, especially when a warranty is transferable. Product warranties are separate from labor coverage, and their registration, maintenance and transfer rules are set by each manufacturer.

Project detail

Kitchen Countertops

Choose a slab or color range after confirming cabinet support, overhangs, seams and appliance openings. A field template records the actual room geometry; walls and cabinet runs are rarely perfectly square.

Bathroom Vanities

Vanity tops need accurate basin, faucet and backsplash dimensions. The selected surface, sink type and faucet reach are coordinated before fabrication, with attention to splash zones and access to shutoff valves.

The Three-Step Template Process

First, measure and template the installed cabinets or approved existing substrate. Next, select color and edge profile and confirm sink details. Finally, review the written quote, fabrication and installation sequence before work is scheduled.

Furniture & Table Tops

A custom stone top can protect a dining table, desk, coffee table, nightstand or other wood furniture. The furniture needs adequate support and a plan for safe handling; a thin decorative top is not automatically suitable for a heavy slab. Edge shape, overhang, seams and backsplash details are confirmed before fabrication. Stone can stain, etch or crack under some conditions, so use trivets and boards and follow the fabricator’s care instructions.

Pricing, packages & planning

Item Reference / estimate basis
Granite countertop Slab, dimensions, edge and cutouts determine price
Sink opening Specified with sink model and template
Furniture top Measured and quoted by size and support

Historical prices are shown as references only. The final written estimate identifies measurements, product selections, access, removal, disposal and exclusions. Financing was previously advertised through GE Money as 90 days to 12 months with no down payment or deferred interest; current lender, offers, APR, eligibility and terms must be confirmed directly before applying.

Where a project combines several small repairs, ask whether a half-day or full-day visit is available. No package rate is published here because current labor prices were not present in the accessible legacy content.

Choose based on the building, not the buzzword

Options compared

Condition or option CTHandiMan approach Trade-off to consider
Custom template Measured from the actual installed substrate Ordering from rough room dimensions alone
Stone selection Review the actual slab, variation and care needs Expecting a uniform printed pattern
Sink cutout Coordinate sink model before fabrication Changing sinks after the stone is cut

There is no single product or installation method that fits every house. We explain the recommended scope, alternatives, what the work will not solve and any conditions that need a separate specialist.

Cutting costs, never corners

A straightforward four-step process

  1. Call, text or send photos.

Describe the issue, share your town and attach photos through the estimate form. We ask follow-up questions when the pictures do not show access or concealed details.

  2. Review and measure.

We arrange a pressure-free site review and confirm dimensions, product choices and project conditions. Remote or satellite measurements, where relevant, are preliminary and may require field verification.

  3. Approve a written scope.

Review the price, materials, preparation, cleanup, schedule, exclusions and any licensed trade work before authorizing the project.

  4. Complete the work and review coverage.

The crew protects the work area, completes the approved scope and explains the written workmanship and manufacturer warranty terms that apply.

Technical questions

Frequently asked questions

Can granite handle hot pans and knives?

Stone is durable, but care varies by material and finish. Use trivets and cutting boards and follow the fabricator’s cleaning and sealing guidance.

Can you template over an existing counter?

The legacy service described overlay possibilities. The existing surface must be evaluated for stability, height, edge, sink and support before that approach is approved.

How does the three-step process work?

Measure and template the site, select color and edge details, then review the quote and fabrication plan. Installation is scheduled after dimensions and cutouts are approved.

Can I use granite on a table or desk?

Yes, where the furniture can safely support the slab. A site or item review should confirm dimensions, weight, support points and safe installation access.

Can a sink be cut into the new top?

Sink openings are made to the selected basin and faucet specification. Confirm the exact model and mounting type before fabrication.

Does granite need maintenance?

Some stone types require periodic sealing and careful cleaning. Ask for care instructions for the exact material and finish you select.
