Explore the work in detail

Kitchen and bath projects involve more than finish selection. Plumbing, ventilation, electrical service, cabinet dimensions, waterproofing, substrate condition and product lead times all affect the sequence. A written estimate should distinguish included work, allowances, owner selections and items requiring another licensed trade.

New England homes vary by age, construction, coastal exposure, freeze-thaw cycles and previous repairs. We review visible conditions, access and product instructions before recommending a scope. Concealed conditions or work beyond the quote are documented before extra work proceeds.

Before the visit, make a short list of the symptoms, when they occur and any previous repairs. Note whether water, drafts or equipment problems change with rain, wind or temperature. Photos can help identify the affected area, but they cannot show every concealed condition; measurements and product selection are verified at the home.

During estimating, we discuss access, work-area protection, disposal, sequencing and any items that need a licensed trade or a separate specialist. The written scope should state what is included, which materials are selected, what may change if concealed damage is found and who approves additional work. This keeps the project understandable before tools or materials arrive.

After installation, ask for care and maintenance instructions, product paperwork and the written workmanship terms. Keep a copy with your home records, especially when a warranty is transferable. Product warranties are separate from labor coverage, and their registration, maintenance and transfer rules are set by each manufacturer.

Eight Kitchen Tune-Up Paths

A tune-up can combine granite counters, ceramic backsplash, new flooring, modern hardware, task or ambient lighting, deep cleaning and shining of existing cabinets, semi-custom made-to-order cabinets, plus storage, sink and plumbing updates. These are independent choices, not a bundled promise; we identify which existing pieces are reusable and how each change affects measurements and project sequence.

Accessible Bath Updates

Tub-to-shower conversions, grab bars, handheld controls, seating and doorway changes can address specific mobility needs. Layout and anchoring should be designed for the intended user and the wall structure.

Pricing, packages & planning

Item Reference / estimate basis
Kitchen tune-up Scope and selected finishes determine price
Countertop and vanity Quoted by template, material and cutouts
Bath conversion Site conditions and selected system determine price

Historical prices are shown as references only. The final written estimate identifies measurements, product selections, access, removal, disposal and exclusions. Financing was previously advertised through GE Money as 90 days to 12 months with no down payment or deferred interest; current lender, offers, APR, eligibility and terms must be confirmed directly before applying.

Where a project combines several small repairs, ask whether a half-day or full-day visit is available. No package rate is published here because current labor prices were not present in the accessible legacy content.

Choose based on the building, not the buzzword

Options compared

Condition or option CTHandiMan approach Trade-off to consider
Keep sound components Target the worn or inconvenient parts of the room Replacing all finishes without an inspection
Coordinate trades Confirm measurements and sequence before ordering Ordering finishes before plumbing and cabinet decisions
Accessibility Plan around the user and structural support Installing accessories without checking anchorage

There is no single product or installation method that fits every house. We explain the recommended scope, alternatives, what the work will not solve and any conditions that need a separate specialist.

Cutting costs, never corners

A straightforward four-step process

  1. Call, text or send photos.

Describe the issue, share your town and attach photos through the estimate form. We ask follow-up questions when the pictures do not show access or concealed details.

  2. Review and measure.

We arrange a pressure-free site review and confirm dimensions, product choices and project conditions. Remote or satellite measurements, where relevant, are preliminary and may require field verification.

  3. Approve a written scope.

Review the price, materials, preparation, cleanup, schedule, exclusions and any licensed trade work before authorizing the project.

  4. Complete the work and review coverage.

The crew protects the work area, completes the approved scope and explains the written workmanship and manufacturer warranty terms that apply.

Technical questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I combine a kitchen update and bathroom project?

Yes. Separate scopes can be estimated and sequenced together where schedule and trade availability allow. Each room’s product selections and site conditions are reviewed individually.

Can you reuse my cabinets?

If cabinet boxes are sound and the layout works, a tune-up may refresh them. Damage, moisture, door condition and storage needs help determine whether replacement is more practical.

Do you provide granite and vanity tops?

Custom counters can be templated for kitchens and bathrooms. Sink, faucet, edge and backsplash details should be selected before fabrication.

Can you convert a tub into a shower?

A conversion may be possible after checking the drain, plumbing, wall structure, waterproofing and chosen enclosure dimensions.

Do you install ADA-compliant products?

Accessibility products are available, but a residential project is not automatically ADA compliant. Identify any formal standard or inspection requirement before design.

How do I plan a remodel estimate?

Send photos, town and a prioritized list. We can clarify which items are in scope and whether a site visit or a licensed trade is needed.
